The Peoh Ave & First St Intersection Improvements project has started! This is Phase 1 of the Downtown Revitalization Project that will widen sidewalks, construct rounded corners called “bulb-outs”, install new lighting, street trees, benches, and garbage receptacles, and include angled parking from Peoh Ave to Billings Ave. This project is expected to be complete by the end of October. Phase 2 of the project starts next spring, when the stormwater infrastructure will be upgraded throughout the same project corridor. Phase 3 will be the reconstruction of the rest of the sidewalk and amenities mentioned above (from the new Peoh/First intersection all the way to Billings). This project is about $7 million all said and told, and the project team (City and consultants HLA) have received grants for nearly $2 million in the 1.5 years of planning…so far, which has fully funded the Phases 1 and 2. The project team will be updating the social media and city website with new information as it is made available. For questions about the project please call Lucy Temple at 509-674-2262 xt.102.
